Daughtry
Daughtry is an American platinum-selling rock band from North Carolina. The band was formed by former American Idol contestant Chris Daughtry in 2006. Their first album, simply entitled "Daughtry" was released in November 2006. The disc has proceeded to hit #1 on the Billboard 200, outsell Idol winner Taylor Hicks's debut effort, sell over a million units, and become the fastest selling debut rock album in Soundscan history. Tho
ugh Chris is a singer-songwriter, he still decided to collaborate with several other songwriters, such as LIVE's Ed Kowalczyk, Fuel's Carl Bell, Brad Arnold of 3 Doors Down, Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty, SR-71 singer Mitch Allan, Brent Smith of Shinedown and Chad Kroeger of Nickelback. Hit writers Dr. Luke and Max Martin also wrote on the album. At some point during or after this, Chris's label chose Jeremy Brady, 21 (no longer in the band), as one of the guitarists, Josh Steely, 36, as the lead guitarist, Josh Paul, 29, as the bassist who also played for Suicidal Tendencies, and Joey Barnes, 30, as the drummer, to join the band. Two of the band members hail from North Carolina - Joey, whom Chris had known for some time, and Jeremy who was introduced to him a month before the audition. Steely and Paul are both from California.
The first single from the album, "It's Not Over," was originally planned to be released in September. "It's Not Over" was released to radio on December 6, 2006. The self-titled debut album that the single comes from was released by 19 Entertainment and RCA Records on November 21, 2006. The album's producer is Howard Benson.
