Alanis Morissette to be Inducted to Canadian Music Hall of Fame

As a long time fan of Alanis Morissette, I was so happy to hear that she will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame during Canadian Music Week, which is in March 2008. Do you remember Jagged Little Pill? That album won a Grammy Award - and it had several radio hits such as "Ironic" and "Hand In My Pocket".

Alanis Morissette has also received 2 Golden Globe nominations in her career - I remember one of them was for the song "Wunderkind" that she wrote for the movie "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe".

Just for the sake of it, you can check out the video for "Ironic" below. If you want to, post a comment to tell us what your favorite Alanis Morissette song is!

New Gwen Stefani Music Video!

Gwen Stefani has a new music video for her song "Early Winter"! Check it out!

Gwen is an amazing artist and has even branched out to design a famous clothing line called L.A.M.B. I love it when celebrities are multi-talented. Gwen's music, clothing, and shoes are all pretty great.

Any Gwen fans out there? What do you think about the new video??? Post a comment to let us know!

Radiohead's New Album Release a Publicity Stunt?

Recently, Radiohead decided to go against the music industry and do something completely different for their new album release. 'In Rainbows', their new cd, was offered only through Radiohead's website and it allowed users to pay whatever they wanted for the album. Yes, I'm serious. Most people paid $0. Well, why not? If you can get it for free...why should you pay, right?

As online cd sales decline due to illegal music downloads and distribution, people were definitely wondering if this offering by Radiohead was just a publicity stunt. I guess we can't be sure, but it would seem that musicians would have a hard time making a living if they are giving their music away for free. The article I read about it did say that on average (aside from the fans who took the album for free) it was purchased for about $6. That is a far cry from the usual $19.99 or more price you will pay for the actual cd in a music store and about half of what you'd pay on a place like iTunes for just the download.

I wonder if we will continue to see this trend. Before Radiohead did this, I heard Prince gave away his last cd for free. Does anyone know what is going on with this? If you do - or if you got either one of these albums free - post a comment to let us know about it!

MPFree offers free music downloads, too (and the artists get paid their full royalties). Just register and you can immediately begin earning new music downloads just by reading and responding to great offers or by filling out short surveys. It's easy and free to sign up!

The Sick Puppies On Tour With Evanescence

With The Sick Puppies on a band tour with Evanescence, their upcoming concerts are looking to be pretty awesome! Check out this blog post from The Sick Puppies website:

"Hey guys! So we finally started the tour with Evanescence a couple of days ago. It was great. We met the band and the crew, everyone seems really cool and ultra professional which is going to make it a really easy tour to be on. Gives us more time to write some new songs.

We played our own show at Captain Hirams resort last night as well. That was fun! They treated us like kings as soon as we rolled in and we had a blast. It started to pour down with rain the hour before we got out onstage and it was an out door stage with just a little awning to cover us. But we got by, the crowd was awesome. But one of the most fun parts of the day was what we did around lunch. I have always wanted to do this but have never been able to afford it. Yesterday we jumped on some hi powered jet ski’s and went around the lake. It was amazing. It makes you feel so free being out in the middle of the water like that. AND THEY WERE FAST MAN! Our merch guy Jerry was on the back with me and I knocked him off at least half a dozen times. Then he took over and I got bowled off the back a couple of times too. It was great to be able to do something like that, then roll back into the club, dry off and do sound check.

So now begins a 6 week run with one of the bands that we became fans of a few years ago when they dropped their first album. I must admit, after watching Evanescence from side of stage I had to kind of pinch myself. I remember not being able to go to their concert in Australia a few years back because I couldn’t afford it. We were saving up to come over to the states and do what we are doing now. Irony anyone?

Shim"

Check out their music videos below if you haven't heard of these bands - they are really great!
